1. How to Reset Camera  (for A7 2018 Version,  S6)


The reset function will restore all the camera settings back to factory default. 

Specifically, after reset, the camera will forget your home WiFi network information, reset the camera password back to factory default too. After reset, you need to complete the initial camera setup again. 

As the camera password will be reset to factory default password, so if you see 'camera password wrong' promoted on your app, have a check if you have re-provided correct camera password to the app after the camera reset.


Please note that, for any camera offline issues you feel, or recording issue you feel, you DONOT need to reset the camera. The Reset will not help on these cases. If you have met such kinds of issues, the most easiest way to resolve the issue is just sending email to service.us@hi-kam.com, our support team will response and check your issue.


1.1 Reset A7

- Find the reset button on the A7 cable, shown as below.

- Press and hold the reset button until the first beep sound, like a Ding heard. Then release holding it.

    /*Note: If you release late, for example, pressing the button for longer than 5 seconds, you may hear two Ding sound, in that case, the camera will enter into AP mode, which is not reset to factory default.*/

    /*In this case, please wait for 1 minute first, let the camera boot up, after that, run the reset procedure again */


- The camera will automatically reboot and complete the reset back to factory default.

   If you have no LAN Cable connected to the A7, after reset complete, you will hear the A7 starting to beep like Di-Di-Di, which means the camera is waiting for initial setup.



1.2 Reset S6

- Find the reset button on the back of the S6 camera, shown as below.

- Use the pin in the S6 box or a paper clip to press and hold the reset button until the first beep sound, like a Ding heard. Then release holding it.

    /*Note: If you release late, for example, pressing the button for longer than 5 seconds, you may hear two Ding sound, in that case, the camera will enter into AP mode, which is not reset to factory default.*/

    /*In this case, please wait for 1 minute first, let the camera boot up, after that, run the reset procedure again */


- The camera will automatically reboot and complete the reset back to factory default.

   Once reset complete, you will hear the S6 starting to beep like Di-Di-Di, which means the camera is waiting for initial setup.




2. How to set Camera  to AP Mode (for A7 2018 Version,  S6)


In AP mode, the HiKam camera generates a WiFi signal named ‘Hikam-….XX’ or 'Hi-....XX'(XX is the last two digits of the HiKam Camera ID. The camera ID can be found on the back of the HiKam camera.) 

The AP Mode can be used to complete first time of camera setup&configuration. Or you can connect to the camera if there is no wireless router in the house or installed place.


2.1 Set A7 Camera to AP Mode

- Find the reset button on the A7 cable, shown as below.

- Press and hold it until you hear TWO Ding sound, then release holding the reset button. Normally you need to hold for longer than 8 seconds.

    /*Note: If you release early when you only hear ONE beep sound, in that case, the camera will be reset to factory default, not entering into enter into AP mode. So make sure you press the button for long enough time*/


- The camera will automatically reboot and enter int to AP Mode.

   If you have no Lan Cable connected to the A7, or you can plug of the Lan Cable first, check the status LED on the A7 camera to confirm the camera is in AP Mode, you will see the status LED flashing as blue-red-blue-red, as shown below.

   Now you can use your phone or laptop with WiFi to find the WiFi emitted by the camera, it starts with 'Hi', just like you find out the around WiFi in Starbucks or McDonald. If you are using iPhone, you may wait for 1 minute before successfully connected, because iPhone will do extra security check when it connects to a new open WiFi.




How to let the camera quit the AP Mode: 

      Plug in a Lan Cable will make the camera quit AP Mode, back to use Lan Cable.

      Or just configure your home WiFi information (WiFi Network Name, WiFi password) in 'Network Settings' to the camera in the app, the camera will auto reboot and quit the AP mode.

      If you have configured WiFi network to the camera before, just a power cycle (plug off the power source of the camera then plug in the power source again) will make the camera reboot and quit the AP Mode.


2.2 Set S6 Camera to AP Mode

- Find the reset button on the back of the S6 camera, shown as below.
